We are incredibly excited to announce that we have officially partnered with TreeSisters, an NGO and global network of women who make monthly donations towards the acceleration of tropical reforestation. 

Who are TreeSisters?

TreeSisters is a female- led NGO that plant trees across eight diverse ecosystems along the tropical belt, from the ancient cloud forest in Northeast India to the coastal mangrove forests in Madagascar

They have planted 15 million trees to date. They envision a world where it’s commonplace to protect and restore.

Where has TreeSister worked so far?

TreeSisters Projects happen all across the world, operating in collaboration with various partner charities such as Health in Harmony, whose reforestation work has focused on Gunung Palung National Park in Indonesian Borneo. They also work closely with the Eden Reforestation Projects, who reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant trees each year in both Nepal and Madagascar. 

Why partner with TreeSisters?

We founded Indoi upon the pillars of 4 C´s- conscious, craft, culture & community.

We aim to create and offer clothing which is timeless, seasonless and well crafted whilst protecting culture and communities with as minimal an environmental impact as possible. For this reason, it seemed only natural to support a cause which, through collective female action and empowerment, seeks to develop a deep care for the environment on a global scale.

Moreover, through extensive research, it is now well known that climate change is a feminist issue, with women and young girls constituting the majority of those most affected by the issue. Feminism and gender equality are issues very close to our hearts here at Indoi, so there was no way we would pass up the opportunity to support female and environmental issues all in one go.

Why trees? Why now?

The lungs of the world, trees are essential to not only human well-being and health but also that of our planet. Forests play a vital role in harbouring some of the most biodiverse areas in the world, in addition to absorbing the carbon dioxide that is so often cited as the key driver of climate change.  The removal, over-farming and erosion of trees is cataclysmic: climates are altered dramatically and land is left infertile resulting in the suffering of wildlife. This also leads towards extreme poverty and social decline in the surrounding communities. In other words, we need trees to thrive. 

What does our partnership entail?

For every Indoi product purchased over the value of £150 we will donate 5 trees. For every Indoi product purchased under the value of £150, we will donate 2 trees to TreeSisters projects. If you would like to donate more you can do so directly through their website here.

How can I help on an individual scale?

There is always the option to donate directly via the TreeSisters website and using the Ecosia search engine is also a great place to start (each search plants a tree!). If you want to get physical, the Tree Council will likely have a group of tree wardens nearby who you can help out.

But one of the most important things you can do? Tell those around you about the need for reforestation and the vital work being carried out by TreeSisters; above all, encourage them to act too - every little helps!
